Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez, a Mexican-American singer and actress is very well-known. Sara Ramirez was raised by her American mother and faced a lot racial taunts and made her feel unwelcome. If she attended a school competition and received great praise for her performance when she was in the ninth grade she began to feel more confident. It not only increased her confidence, but also her goals changed. In 1992 she graduated with her degree from New York's Julliard School. At the age of 23, her first Broadway show with Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her debut film, You've Got Mail, were her biggest breakthroughs. Her greatest break came in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the first Broadway production of Spamalot. She was awarded the Tony Award and received great appreciation for her role. Later that year, as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC, she gained greater recognition. The actress is also a renowned singer and has released an extended play. She is an activist who works tirelessly in the cause of LGBT equality.
